A new Saudi framework asks media and content creators to disclose AI-generated or AI-assisted content and to verify facts with humans.
Saudi Arabia has introduced "AI Principles in Media", a national framework for using artificial intelligence in media work. Arab News reported the document on 6 November 2026, citing the Saudi Press Agency.
The framework asks media practitioners and content creators to tell audiences when content is generated or assisted by AI, using clear labels, watermarks or metadata. It advises against treating generative AI as an authoritative source of information and calls for human verification, deepfake detection and awareness of algorithmic bias.
Eight principles
The document sets out eight core principles: transparency and disclosure; factual accuracy and credibility; privacy and protection of public figures; preventing misleading content; accountability across the content lifecycle; impartiality and integrity; public awareness and empowerment; and ongoing impact assessment and regulatory compliance.
Forum and training program
The Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) and the General Authority of Media Regulation organized an "AI for Impact" forum with more than 250 media professionals, digital influencers and content creators. Discussions covered ethics and practical risks at each stage of production, from research and scriptwriting to editing and audience analytics. The forum also launched an "Impact Creators" program offering training in content verification and professional production standards.
